Questions
How is this different from Duolingo or a tutor?
Duolingo makes you tap pre-made answers about turtles and zoo animals; a tutor asks ‘what do you want to talk about?’ Typeciao skips both. It sits on the messages you were already going to send, so you produce language about your actual life — and learn the words you genuinely needed.
Do I need someone to practice with?
No. Typeciao is a keyboard, so it works on whatever you were already typing — a message to a friend, a work email, a note to yourself. Anyone you already write to is practice.
What languages does it support?
The common ones to start — including Spanish, Italian, French, German and English — with more on the way. The keyboard works out which of your languages you are writing in as you type, so you can switch mid-message.
Can it read what I type?
Only when you ask it to. The learning strip is a switch you turn on, and while it is off nothing you type leaves your phone. Password, PIN and card fields are never read at all, whatever the switch says.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and Android. On both it installs as a system keyboard, so it works in every app you already type in — you switch to it the same way you switch to an emoji keyboard.
