Privacy Policy
Typeciao is a keyboard that helps you learn a language in the apps you already write in. To do that we handle some of your information — this page explains exactly what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.
This policy applies to the Typeciao mobile app and the typeciao.com website (together, the “Service”), operated by Typeciao (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, email support@typeciao.com.
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the keyboard and its language-learning features.
Information you provide

Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) generated when your app talks to our backend, used to operate, secure, and debug the Service.
We do not collect contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, or browsing history, and Typeciao contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
2. How we use your information
- Provide and operate the Typeciao keyboard.
- Detect the language you’re writing in and generate translations, corrections, and learning hints.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages to serve advertising.
3. How your information is shared
With the people you write to
The keyboard puts its result into whatever app you are typing in — WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail, anything else. From that point the text is handled by that app under its own terms, not ours. We do not send anything to your recipients ourselves, and we do not share your profile with them.
With service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only to deliver the Service:

| AI model providers | The text you type in learning mode is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate translations, corrections, and hints — today that is Google (Gemini API) and OpenAI, both processing in the United States. It is sent without your name, your account, or anything else that identifies you. We use these providers’ paid API tiers, whose terms prohibit using this content to train their models. We may change or add providers as the technology moves; any provider we use is held to the same two conditions — nothing that identifies you, and no training on your content. |

For legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Typeciao.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and profile for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet a legal obligation or resolve disputes. In the keyboard app, text you type in learning mode is processed transiently to produce a translation and is not retained against your account or used for training.
Earlier versions of Typeciao. Typeciao was previously a 1:1 messaging app, and older app versions that are still installed can continue to use it. If you used it that way, the messages and conversations from that period are retained on the same terms as above, are shared with the person you exchanged them with, and are deleted when you delete your account.
5. Your rights and choices
- Access & update — view and edit your languages and profile directly in the app.
- Stop sending text — flip learning mode off on the keyboard. In standard mode nothing you type leaves your device.
- Delete your account — request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@typeciao.com (or using in-app account deletion where available).
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We honor these rights for all users — just contact us and we’ll help. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). On your device, authentication tokens are stored in the system keychain rather than general app storage. Access to our backend is gated by authentication and row-level security so a user can only read their own data. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children’s privacy
Typeciao is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age of digital consent applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International data transfers
Typeciao operates globally and our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
10. Typeciao for ChatGPT
What we collect. When you connect Typeciao to ChatGPT, we receive your email address to create your account. When ChatGPT corrects a text you wrote in a language you are learning, it sends Typeciao the mistakes it found. For each mistake we store the sentence that contains it, the wrong word or phrase, the correction, the type of mistake, a one-line explanation of the rule, the language and the date. We do not store your ChatGPT conversations. If you opt in to the weekly email, we store that choice and when you made it, and keep a record of the emails we send you. If you click a link in that email, we record the click and the type of device (iPhone, Android or computer). If you answer a practice question from the email, we store your answer.
How we use it. Only to show you your recurring mistakes and progress inside ChatGPT, to build practice exercises from your own sentences and, if you opted in, to send you a weekly language lesson by email, which also includes tips about the Typeciao app. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising or to train AI models.
Who processes it. OpenAI (ChatGPT sends us the corrections you ask for), Cloudflare (hosting and database) and Resend (email delivery).
How long we keep it. As long as your account exists. To delete your account and all your saved mistakes, email support@typeciao.com and we will delete them within 30 days.
Your choices. Unsubscribe from the weekly email at any time with the link in each email. Disconnect Typeciao in ChatGPT’s settings to stop sending new mistakes.
