Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are an agreement (an end-user license agreement, or “EULA”) between you and Typeciao. By creating an account or using the Typeciao app or the typeciao.com website (together, the “Service”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Typeciao is a keyboard for learning a language while you write. In learning mode, the text you type is translated into the language your reader speaks and annotated with corrections and learning hints; in standard mode it behaves as an ordinary keyboard and nothing leaves your device. Earlier versions of Typeciao were a 1:1 messaging app, and app versions that are still installed can continue to use that; the terms below apply to both. You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher age of digital consent where you live) to use the Service.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for everything sent from it. Keep your sign-in method (email inbox, Google account) secure. You may delete your account at any time in the app’s settings or by emailing support@typeciao.com.

3. Your content

You own the text, profile information, and photos you submit. You grant us the limited license needed to operate the Service — to store, transmit, translate, and display your content back to you, and, where you use the messaging features of an earlier app version, to the person you are writing with. We don’t use your content for advertising and we don’t sell it.

4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse

Typeciao has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content or behavior that violates this policy is removed, and accounts responsible for it are ejected from the Service.

You agree not to post, send, or share content that:

• is harassing, threatening, abusive, or hateful, or that promotes violence or discrimination against any person or group;
• is sexually explicit or exploits or endangers minors in any way;
• is defamatory, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading;
• promotes illegal activity, self-harm, or terrorism;
• is spam, or contains malware or links designed to harm or deceive;
• infringes someone else’s rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
• impersonates another person or misrepresents who you are.

You also agree not to abuse, harass, or stalk other users, and not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

5. Moderation: reporting, blocking, and enforcement

The current keyboard has no user-to-user content, so there is nothing in it to report or block. Reporting and blocking apply to the messaging features of earlier app versions, which are still in use.

• Reporting. You can report objectionable content or an abusive user directly in the app, or by emailing support@typeciao.com.
• Blocking. You can block any user in the app. Blocking immediately hides their content from you and prevents them from contacting you, and notifies us so we can review their behavior.
• Enforcement. We review reports and act on them within 24 hours — objectionable content is removed and users who violate these terms are ejected from the Service. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion to keep the Service safe.

6. License to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Typeciao app for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms and to the rules of the store you downloaded it from (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play). You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or resell the Service.

7. Subscriptions

Typeciao is free to use within usage limits. An optional paid subscription removes those limits and supports the project.

• Billing. The subscription is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and billed monthly to your Apple Account or Google account when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of the free trial if you start one. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
• Free trial. New subscribers may be offered a free trial, with its length shown in the app before you start it. The store decides who is eligible, usually once per Apple Account or Google account. When the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial means you are not charged. On iOS, any unused part of the trial ends when you buy a subscription.
• Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically each month at the same price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time: on iPhone in Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions; on Android in the Google Play app, under Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep unlimited access until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app or your Typeciao account does not cancel the subscription.
• Refunds. Payments are handled by the store you bought from, and refund requests go through it: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, Google through Google Play.
• Price changes. If the price changes, you’ll be notified in advance as required by the store, and may cancel before the new price applies.

8. If you got the app from the Apple App Store

These additional terms apply to the iOS app. Where they conflict with the rest of these terms, this section wins.

• Parties. These terms are between you and Typeciao only, not Apple. Typeciao, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Scope of license. Your license to the app is limited to using it on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that it may also be used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
• Maintenance and support. Typeciao is solely responsible for maintenance and support of the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it.
• Warranty. Typeciao is responsible for any product warranty, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses from a failure to conform to a warranty are Typeciao’s responsibility.
• Product claims. Typeciao, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
• Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Typeciao, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
• Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app, such as your wireless data service agreement.
• Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
• Questions and complaints. Send questions, complaints, or claims about the app to Typeciao at support@typeciao.com.

9. Translations and learning hints

Translations, corrections, and hints are generated automatically and are provided for learning purposes. They may contain mistakes — don’t rely on them where an inaccurate translation could cause harm.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these terms — including, without exception, for posting objectionable content or abusing other users.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Typeciao is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months and US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Privacy

How we collect and use your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

13. Typeciao for ChatGPT

The Typeciao plugin for ChatGPT is free. It saves the language mistakes ChatGPT corrects in your own writing and shows them back to you as patterns and exercises. Corrections are generated by ChatGPT and may contain errors. The optional weekly email can be stopped at any time with its unsubscribe link. We may change or discontinue the plugin. You can disconnect it at any time in ChatGPT’s settings and ask us to delete your data at support@typeciao.com.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
